- Writing is a form of taking ideas and emotions that would normally be confined to ones thoughts and expressing them in a physical form for others to interpret. Although writing is not confined to letters on a paged, writing is symbolic and can be anything used to convey a message.
- Successful writing is accomplished when the audience interprets the authors work in the way the author wishes for it to be. The author wrote to share their ideas so the writing is successful when the audience understands those emotions by viewing the writing.
- I would consider myself as an argumentative writer. Writing is the most enjoyable when I am firmly opposing a subject.
- List: Expressive, Symbolic, Insightful, Necessary and Complex
- The authors are arguing that if students are encouraged to plagiarize the quality of the students writing will improve and the creativity that comes with original texts will not be lost in the process. They sight that almost all other forms of writing use plagiarism to some degree, so the best course of action would be to allow students to incorporate other works into their writing as well.
- This text has shown me that the best forms of writing are those which pull from other sources to develop the most compelling and extensive amount of information possible. The author should use outside ideas and sources to drive their point.
- The article is successful in that it allows the reader to interpret the the writing in the direction the author wanted it to be interpreted. The point of the article was to influence the reader into thinking that plagiarism should be encouraged in schools and although that initially sounds very off-putting, but the end of the article the reader feels inclined to agree.
- My understanding of writing has changed in that this article brought to light all of the instances in which plagiarism is presented to students in their every day lives, yet it is normally such a taboo subject that these infractions are normally hidden.
- I wouldn't wish to omit any of the terms previously listed, but I would like to add the word encompassing. This word was brought to my attention by this article because most writing encompasses the ideas of the writer and those who influence those thoughts.
- I enjoy creative and argumentative writing, such as in school debates and other academically based events.
- My least favorite form of writing as analytical. Analyzing texts and interpreting the elements the author uses to drive their points is my weakest form of writing.
- In high school class debates my writing would always lead my team to victory, so my most successful piece would probably be one of my debate papers.
- My least successful piece of writing was the analytical response to a passage on the most recent AP Literature exam. I struggle with analytical writing and that display was abysmal.
