word cloud-- Sarah Wilkerson

I see a connection to my key words in many of the words on the word cloud. My key terms started as describing, discussing, interpreting, expression, and comparing. I see many of the words incorporated onto my word cloud already, but not as big as i thought they would be. Although a lot of the words reflect what my thoughts were in the journal about the article with remixing and assemblage, my other thoughts about writing were not as prevalent. This is important because my main idea did not transfer as well as i thought it would. The most intriguing conclusion is the way the word cloud really captured my overall thoughts about assemblage, but not what i truly think writing is about. My theory of writing is that writing can either be written communication to the rest of the world or more private and expressive. Writing has many functions and many variations. One way that writing helps people is giving people written reference to useful or important information that could possibly help or educate them. Another way writing can help people is to be expressive, relatable, or even therapeutic to another person to read it. The key terms of discussing and describing all go along with the idea that writing can be used to expand knowledge or help in certain fields of study. Everyone can see a piece of writing and interpret it in all different ways, that is what makes writing interesting, people can compare their own interpretations. The last term of expression is the part of writing that makes writing an art, the way people can relate to it and feel emotion from reading it.

In the beginning of this activity i really did not understand it or what the point was, but now at the end i finally understand that it is important to make our own theories of writing. After talking to the other people in my group it was very interesting to see the different ways everyone views writing. One person described writing as an expressive form of art, while another person viewed it in a sense of the actual structure of what writing should be. Having my own writing theory is important because i now understand my view of writing a lot more. I view it as something useful both for knowledge and learning, but also in the expressive and emotional part of people. As for myself i think i am a writer who is in the middle of the people who view writing as expressive and the people who view it in the knowledgable and structural sense. i connect with my theory because writing has many uses and i feel i have had experiences of all types of writing.
