Journal 3 Juan Rodriguez

I would define audience as the intended readers of a work of literature. The audience reads and analyzes the work written by the author. The intended audience is the most important part of a work because the audience changes the style of a writer, for example the style of a children's book is completely different than an adult novel. Estrem defines knowledge as what you create in your mind while writing, he connects knowledge to writing by saying it gives text originality. Lunsford defines audience as whatever the writer wants them to be by imagining them and giving them a role. These definitions help me better understand Anzaldua's texts. I never really thought that audience and and knowledge could be altered though language and this text taught me this. My idea of knowledge and audience was changed, I never thought that these concepts were this complicated and malleable.
