Yancey
and Taczak define reflection as “is a mode of inquiry: a deliberate way of
systematically recalling writing experiences to reframe the current writing
situation.” Reflections are what helps the author improve his/her writings.
They reflect on their mistakes and look at what can be improved. As Taczak
explains, “reflection helps writers begin assessing themselves as writers,
recognizing and building on their prior knowledge about writing.” With each
reflection you are looking at what was good and building on what needs to be
improved. In the key terms, reflections help clarify things, such as audience.
When reflecting on your audience you can improve your writing techniques and
what you’ve learned to make your writings more enjoyable for readers. Also you
can improve on ways to portray information to your readers when you reflect on
past writings.
My example is how someone reflects upon themselves to improve in one area or another.
